Vino di Amore – Cloverdale Raises the Bar!!

Posted on   December 12,2011   By John Compisi

Cloverdale is the latest Wine Country locale to add a hot new tasting room, wine bar and lounge.  Located at 105 N. Cloverdale Blvd, Vino di Amore is owned and operated by Ted and Deanna Starr.  The Starr’s also own the Milano Family Winery in Hopland, California where Deanna is also the winemaker.

The Cloverdale location puts the tasting room at the cross roads of travels to the vineyards of the Alexander Valley as well as the neighboring appellations of Dry Creek, Russian River and the newest Sonoma AVA of Pine Mountain-Cloverdale Peak.  It is also well situated for travelers heading to or returning from Mendocino and the Anderson Valley and points due north like Hopland and Ukiah Valley.  No doubt the many water sports aficionados accessing Lake Sonoma in the summer will avail themselves of this unique and fun spot.

The Starr’s spared no expense in creating a sophisticated Tuscan like ambiance with warm colors and appointments.  Vino di Amore is a very welcoming and comfortable setting with a standard bar and lounge type seating and a very inviting schedule of events including Monday Night Football and Friday Night Music.  Oscar Calderon is a regular performer specializing in guitar and vocals including covers of the Eagles and Carlos Santana.  Very talented.

Coco, the manager, and Cliff were very knowledgeable and made every effort to make guests feel welcome.  Soon Vino di Amore will be featuring wines from other local wineries besides their own Milano Family wines.  After all, there are about 10 wineries in the Cloverdale area and only one or two have tasting rooms, like Valdez Family Winery whose tasting room is only open on Saturday.  This will be a real boon to the participating wineries and the downtown business traffic in Cloverdale.  So stop in and enjoy this special new attraction and support your local businesses.
